12 Questions with Alex Bjork

What is your favorite part about working at Elsmere?

I think the best part is knowing you are making an impact on someone's future and helping them achieve their goals in life. I like learning about different backgrounds of students and seeing how we might be able to help with their goals with our programs. There is no better conversation than telling someone they have been admitted into a program they have been striving for.

What three words would you use to describe Elsmere's company culture?

Collaborative, fun, and flexible.

Which one of Elsmere's core values resonates most with you and why?

Transparency. I think it's very special how open the goals and communications are at Elsmere. You always feel comfortable going to anyone with questions.

If you could switch places with anyone at Elsmere, who would it be and why?

I would say Shane Davidson. I feel like he has a great background of the industry and is involved in so many different decisions and moving parts at Elsmere. I would love to have his brain and input!

If you could time travel, where would you go?

I'd say travel to the future, whatever year the Detroit Lions become good at football. That might be a ways out...

Do you have any pets?

Yes! One dog named Louie. He is a mix of mainly corgi and poodle. He's very low to the ground and a little confusing to look at. But he loves to chew bones, run around in circles, and eat ice cubes.

If you could have lunch with 3 people, who would you invite and where would you eat?

Tiger Woods, Post Malone, and Dwayne Johnson. Obviously, we'd meet at Chick-Fil-A. I feel like that would be an unbelievable combination of people.

What song would you sing at karaoke night?

"Chicken Fried" by Zac Brown Band.

Tell us something that might surprise your coworkers.

I was a soloist in my 6th grade choir. Not a big deal or anything...

What was the last TV show you binge watched?

Parks and Rec, for about the 12th time.

Breakfast, lunch, or dinner?

Breakfast, for sure! It's so versatile and you can really eat it at any time of day.

What's the best piece of advice you've received?

I would have to say just the general idea of not worrying what other people think about you or the decisions you make. As long as what you're doing makes you happy, that's all you can ask for.
